Anti-wrinkle

Radiantly beautiful !

For some, wrinkles are a sign of wisdom, character and life experience. For others, they represent the visibility of ageing, stress and fatigue.

There are many reasons for the shape and development of wrinkles on the face, neck or décolleté. It can be a predisposition that wrinkles appear at a young age. Lifestyle also plays an important role. However, the strongest factor for premature skin ageing and wrinkling is the effect of the sun on the skin.

The good news is that we can do a lot to keep our face looking fresh and youthful for longer. Preventive and active, with different treatments and good care. After all, our skin is worth being good to, as it is our largest sensory organ. It is our protection against the outside world, it regulates our body temperature and it is crucial for the perception of various stimuli. There are many remedies for a good appearance and a fresh complexion, and we will be happy to help you make the right choice in our practice.

Method

What helps against wrinkles?

An anti-wrinkle treatment typically refers to various cosmetic procedures, aesthetic treatments or home care products that aim to reduce or minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

Common types of anti-wrinkle treatments are:

  • Creams and serums:

There are numerous skincare products on the market that contain ingredients designed to improve collagen and skin elasticity to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Many of these products are good, they nourish and moisturize the skin. In most cases, however, a good sunscreen in the morning and a skin-renewing cream in the evening, i.e. skin care with retinol or fruit acids, is sufficient.

  • Sun protection:

A high sun protection factor, applied daily, is the best prevention for young, youthful, fresh skin. For a lifetime!

  • Botulinum toxin injections (Botox®):

Botulinum toxin is injected in tiny amounts into certain facial muscles to temporarily inhibit their activity and thus reduce the appearance of wrinkles, particularly in areas such as the forehead, eyes (laugh lines) and mouth. Botulinum injections can also be used preventively. As botulinum inhibits the muscles, wrinkles cannot progress any further. The frown line, for example, is caused by using the forehead muscles.

  • Filler:

Substances such as hyaluronic acid or collagen can be injected into the skin to restore volume and smooth wrinkles by filling the skin from the inside out. This tightens the skin and effectively reduces wrinkles on the face.

  • Laser therapies:

Laser treatments are used to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, particularly on the face. There are also lasers that help against age spots or veins and thus restore an even complexion.

  • Chemical peelings:

In this method, special substances are applied to the skin to remove the top layer of skin and promote the production of new skin cells, which can lead to a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles.

The effectiveness of anti-wrinkle treatments varies – depending on the method, individual skin conditions and numerous other factors. In most cases, a combination of good care and a few, precisely applied treatments promises the greatest desired success. At our practice in Rapperswil-Jona, we will be happy to advise you on full face treatments and new, innovative methods and active ingredients for an optimal result from your aesthetic treatment.

In which areas of the face can wrinkles be reduced?

There is no wrinkle that cannot be reduced. The most effective approach is a mixture of good skin care, optimal sun protection, targeted, small botulinum injections and the deliberate use of hyaluronic fillers, lasers and biostimulators to achieve an optimal and lasting effect of wrinkle reduction and skin tightening between volume build-up, fibroblast stimulation, muscle inhibition and collagen stimulation.

If you want to look fresh and refreshed, you can usually start the day or a beautiful evening immediately after treatment with these products – if used precisely.

Tradition

How long have people been trying to reduce their wrinkles?

If you ask Chat GPT about this, the answer is yes:

“People have used various methods and techniques for centuries to reduce or conceal the appearance of wrinkles. Even in ancient times, various substances such as honey, milk or oils were applied to the skin to nourish and firm it. The use of masks and ointments was also widespread at the time.

Over time, the techniques and methods used to reduce wrinkles have evolved. In the In the 19th century, for example, various creams and lotions were launched on the market that were advertised with ingredients such as glycerine or lanolin to tighten the skin and smooth out wrinkles. In the In the 20th century, more advanced technologies such as botulinum toxin injections, filler treatments and laser therapies for wrinkle treatment were added.

So there is a long tradition of people striving to improve the appearance of their skin and reduce wrinkles. These efforts have evolved over time and are now more diverse and advanced than ever.” (Source: Chat GPT 3.5)

Risks

What are the risks or side effects?

A facial treatment with hyaluronic fillers may require regular top-up treatments to maintain the results. The treatment is minimally invasive, but like all facial treatments, the professional quality of the practitioner must be ensured in order to minimize risks.

Volume build-up in the face using hyaluronic acid and the related calcium hydroxyapatite is non-permanent and biodegradable: unlike permanent fillers (e.g. silicone), hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down by the body over time. The effects usually last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the product used and the area treated.

The results are usually visible immediately after treatment. For some patients, it may take some time for the volume increase to become apparent because swelling must have completely subsided before the final result is visible.

Possible side effects: Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising and slight pain at the injection site. These are usually mild and temporary.

My advice

If you want to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines on your own face, there are numerous options available. I advise women and men of all ages to use sun protection every day as the basis for good, healthy skin.

Nevertheless, even the best sunscreen cannot prevent age-related wrinkling. Those who want to combat the ever-deepening frown lines, the many small lip wrinkles, the furrows around the nose or excessive wrinkles on the forehead can also opt for aesthetic treatments.

In Rapperswil-Jona, we will of course advise you in detail so that you can choose the right treatment option from the many available. This is how we achieve the optimum result for your individual case.

FAQs – Frequently asked questions

No cream can penetrate as deeply into the skin or muscles as Botox or hyaluronic acid. This means that the effect is very limited, even with the best ingredients. I therefore always recommend counteracting the ageing process in the face with minimally invasive treatments.

A full face treatment can be a treatment with hyaluronic acid alone or a combination of different methods. For the injection of hyaluronic acid anywhere on the face where volume has been lost, one treatment is usually sufficient. In combination with peelings or laser treatments, I recommend at least two treatments at intervals of 2-3 weeks.

A full face treatment is a complete facial treatment with the aim of rejuvenating the skin and reducing wrinkles. The choice of methods to be used depends on the condition of the skin, the area to be treated and the patient’s wishes. We will be happy to advise you and create your optimal treatment plan together.

Unfortunately, aesthetic treatments are very expensive. Hyaluronic acid injections in particular cost a small fortune, depending on the amount used. In order to keep the costs within reasonable limits and still achieve optimal results, I have set the price for a full face treatment with hyaluronic acid in my practice at 3500.

This enables us to ensure that a substitution can be made wherever volume has been lost in the face.
