Thread lifting

With threads against wrinkles!

A well-known and frequently requested method of reducing wrinkles on the face and neck is the so-called thread lift. After all, many women and more and more men of all ages would like to have even, smooth skin. As a result, demand for the various options for wrinkle reduction and facial rejuvenation is increasing.

The tissue becomes firmer with a thread lift. In addition, the skin of the cheeks, chin, neck, jaw and eyebrow area is stimulated to produce more of the body’s own collagen, making the smoothing effect of the facial treatment long-lasting and effective. With threads against wrinkles, modern and innovative.

But don’t worry: this method has nothing to do with sewing at all!

How does a thread lift work?

Thread lifting is a minimally invasive procedure in aesthetic medicine that is used to tighten the skin – especially on the face and neck – and reduce wrinkles. In this procedure, special absorbable, i.e. self-dissolving threads are inserted into the skin to achieve an immediate lifting effect and stimulate the production of collagen.

The threads used are usually made of biodegradable materials such as polylactic acid or polydioxanone.

There are different types of sutures that can be used depending on the patient’s needs and the goals of the procedure. Some threads have barbs or small cones to hold the skin and tighten the tissue, while other smooth threads are used to stimulate collagen growth. We will be happy to advise you at a personal appointment in our practice on Lake Zurich to define the right choice of threads.

The thread lift procedure for face lifting and wrinkle reduction is used to treat different areas of the face, including the cheeks, jawline, neck and eyebrows.

It usually requires only a short treatment time and generally results in little downtime compared to more invasive surgical procedures such as a facelift.

How satisfied are our patients with the results?

“Thread lifting has the greatest effect in terms of collagen stimulation, i.e. the vitalization of the body’s own substances that make the skin look fuller and smoother again.

If my patients have the right expectations and the right skin type for the treatment method selected to tighten their skin and reduce their wrinkles, then they are happy and satisfied with the result.

I often find that good advice and attention to special requests can work wonders here.”

How long has thread lifting been used in aesthetic medicine?

Thread lifting originated in the early 1990s when it was first introduced in Europe to tighten facial skin and neck tissue. Since then, the technique has evolved and become popular in many parts of the world as a method of skin tightening without surgery.

Over the last two decades, thread lifting has become an established option in aesthetic medicine and is performed by many doctors and specialists to tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles.

What are the advantages of a thread lift?

The biggest advantage of thread lifting is that it is minimally invasive, i.e. it does not require surgery, thus avoiding the risks associated with any operation and can still tighten the skin.

Thread lifting uses special threads that are inserted into the skin to lift it and make it firmer. These threads also help to stimulate the body’s own collagen production, which can lead to long-term improvements in skin quality.

Other benefits include a short recovery time, no visible scars and a reduced risk of complications compared to traditional surgical facelift procedures.

What are the risks or side effects?

Although thread lifting can be an effective way to temporarily improve the appearance of the skin, regular refresher treatments are required as the threads are absorbed by the body over time.

Possible side effects include swelling, bruising, redness or itching at the injection site.

It is really important to seek advice and treatment from a qualified and experienced specialist, especially for this method of wrinkle reduction and skin smoothing, to determine whether thread lifting is suitable for your specific needs. This is because thread lifting is not suitable for everyone, especially for patients with certain skin diseases, blood clotting disorders or a history of allergies to the materials used. My advice

A thread lift can reduce the signs of aging and help a person look younger and fresher, but it cannot make radical changes or completely alter a person’s appearance.

It is also associated with a surgical risk and very high costs.

I therefore advise my patients to undergo an intensive consultation before treatment, to compare other treatment options and to have realistic expectations of the skin tightening and facial rejuvenation procedures that will be used.

FAQs – Frequently asked questions

No. Although the name suggests it, thread-lifting is a non-surgical method of facial treatment and skin tightening that can lead to a better skin structure and more pronounced facial contours primarily by stimulating the body’s own collagen production.

The most important thing before such a facial treatment is a consultation with a specialist so that the expectations of this form of rejuvenation treatment can be realistically assessed. A thread lift can improve the appearance of the face and skin, but is not always the only suitable method for achieving the desired effect.

The cost of a facelift depends on the surgeon performing the procedure and the country in which the surgeon is operating. In Switzerland, CHF 20,000 is an approximate figure.

A thread lift starts at around CHF 1,000, depending on the region and condition of the skin.
