Simple, quick and without side effects: Off to the swimming pool, your next date or on vacation without annoying hair growth. Feel good anywhere and at any time!

How does hair removal work?

The treatment of hair removal with the help of a laser, with the so-called flash lamp, begins with a thorough cleansing of the skin and the application of a cooling gel to protect the skin and to be able to use the laser beam optimally and precisely. We also cover birthmarks with a white pencil so that they remain intact. The eyes of the patients and our staff are protected with a light-absorbing lamp. After adopting the most comfortable treatment position possible, the laser is guided over the areas of the body to be treated, whereby the light beam is absorbed by the dark hair follicles while the skin remains unharmed.

Laser hair removal is very effective and only takes a few minutes, depending on the area of skin and surface to be treated – for example, on the face. As a rule, several sessions at intervals of several weeks (we recommend 4-6 weeks) are required to achieve optimum results, as the hairs in each body region are in different growth phases at the same time and the laser can only destroy hairs in the growth phase.

After each treatment, patients do not need to think about anything other than avoiding direct sunlight on the skin areas and moisturizing the skin in the treated areas, i.e. applying a good amount of cream.

Once treatment is complete, most people can enjoy permanently smooth and hair-free skin, making laser hair removal a popular choice for long-term hair removal.

Which areas of the body can be treated with the flash lamp?

With the flash lamp, a highly effective and painless hair removal method, all hair can be removed from any desired area of the body. Firstly, there is unwanted hair growth in the armpits, armpits, arms and upper arms, on the chest or back, in the bikini area and on the buttocks, as well as on the upper and lower legs and, of course, on the face. The result is smooth skin in the desired areas, less inflammation after shaving and an improvement in the frequently desired visual appearance.

As a rule, 4 to 6 treatments at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks are sufficient to achieve permanent hair removal, i.e. years and decades of hairlessness.

It is also possible to treat several parts of the body at the same time, i.e. several areas of skin where the removal and permanent prevention of hair growth is desired.

A medical indication, i.e. the need to treat ingrown hairs or inflammation after shaving or inflammation of the hair follicles known as folliculitis, also plays a role time and again in the inquiries we receive.

For example, a few patients develop a fistula in the area of the fissure of the buttocks, the so-called coccyx fistula (plinoidal sinus), which can be successfully removed in a few sessions using the flash lamp. In this case, even the health insurance company will pay for the treatment. As a recurrence prophylaxis, permanent hair removal is then advisable. Contact us directly if you have such a condition and we will advise you so that you can live a carefree and long-lasting life without further impairment.

Which device is best for hair removal?

It is amazing what results we can now achieve with permanent hair removal. Our patients are extremely satisfied with the results and enjoy permanent hairlessness in areas of the body that they previously had to treat with constant shaving, painful epilators or products such as waxing. Many lack the leisure, time and patience and quite a few women and men have to struggle with inflammation after shaving or ingrown hairs. We are no longer talking about pure beauty therapy, but about helping people to regain a sense of well-being in their own bodies.

Which device is best for hair removal?

In my practice in Rapperswil-Jona, we use the Ellipse Nordlys laser device known as a flash lamp. This is a state-of-the-art IPL flash lamp that uses a special wavelength spectrum of light (SWT) to remove hair and small veins as well as age and pigment spots.

The long-pulsed Nd:Yag laser of this device can also be used to effectively treat spider veins and larger telangiectasias or hemangiomas.

With the help of this flash lamp, we can remove hair sustainably and permanently at an incredible treatment speed. The method is tried and tested, gentle and efficient.

Women, for example, find hair on their face, upper lip or chin extremely annoying, masculine, unsexy, unpleasant and embarrassing. We can also permanently remove this unwanted hair growth and thus make a significant contribution to the well-being and satisfaction of those affected.

What are the advantages of laser or flash lamp hair removal?

What is absolutely unbeatable about hair removal with a flash lamp is the cell-sparing and permanent effect of hair removal.

While painful epilation or annoying shaving have to be repeated again and again, the use of a laser-based device achieves a permanent effect in hair removal, smooth skin forever, hairlessness without regrowth and thus a considerable relief in the area of beauty care.

What are the risks or side effects?

Slight redness may occur during the treatment, but this usually disappears very quickly on its own. A light cooling such as a nourishing, moisturizing cream after each treatment is useful, helps the skin to recover and relaxes.

It is important to avoid direct sunlight after each treatment or throughout the entire treatment period. This ensures the success of the therapy and prevents the wrong skin cells from being affected.

For example, we cover birthmarks with a white pencil. This precautionary measure is necessary so that the cells there are not triggered to undergo an undesirable change.

The treatment itself is – depending on the respective body part and the individual sensation – painless to unpleasant, but according to all patients it is well tolerated. The duration of treatment depends on the area to be treated. A delicate female upper lip, for example, can be treated in a minute, whereas a large male leg can take an hour.

My advice

For hair removal with the flash lamp, as with all laser treatments, it is important that the skin is as light as possible, i.e. it must not be tanned. The treatment and the concept can only be successful if dark hair is to be removed.

This makes treatment in the fall and winter months very suitable for many people. You should also avoid the sun after the treatment and give the skin pigments time to recover.

FAQs – Frequently asked questions

Hair growth takes place in cycles. We only hit hairs in the growth cycle. Treatment must therefore be carried out several times to permanently remove all hairs.

Freshly sunburned people must not be treated under any circumstances. However, if the person’s skin type is somewhat darker, this can be taken into account by making special settings on the device. For the time being, low-energy work is then carried out.

Depending on the area of skin and the sensitivity of the patient, the treatment is evaluated completely differently. In general, it can be said that thin areas of skin close to bone structures are more painful than areas of skin over muscles or fatty tissue.

The treatment can be considered permanent and sustainable after approx. four to six repetitions. In a few exceptional cases, for example, a hormonal change can cause hair to grow back years later. In these cases, however, one or two subsequent treatments can provide a quick and easy remedy.
