Smooth skin all year round
How to plan your laser hair removal treatments effectively
Laser hair removal has become one of the most popular aesthetic treatments – and for good reason. With the right seasonal planning, you can achieve smooth, hair-free skin with minimal side effects. Best of all, the results are long-lasting and sustainable.
But when is the ideal time to begin laser hair removal? And how many sessions are needed for lasting results? At SK Aesthetics by Lake Zurich, we’ve created a helpful annual treatment calendar – complete with expert tips for optimal outcomes.
How laser hair removal works
Laser hair removal targets hair follicles with controlled light energy, permanently disabling the root. The pigment (melanin) in the hair absorbs the laser energy, which destroys the follicle – effectively, gently, and with lasting results.
Only hairs in the active growth phase (anagen phase) can be treated. Depending on the body area, 6–8 sessions are recommended, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.
Why timing matters: the role of seasons in laser hair removal
Sun exposure, tanning, and UV light are risk factors when undergoing laser treatments. Starting your sessions in the middle of summer can lead to side effects such as pigmentation changes or skin irritation.
Expert Tip:
Begin your laser hair removal journey in autumn or winter, when your skin is less exposed to the sun. This ensures optimal results just in time for the next swimsuit season.
Treatment calendar: the best time to start laser hair removal
Autumn & winter (October – February): ideal starting time
- Minimal sun exposure
- Lighter, untanned skin
- Enough time to complete treatment before summer
✅ Best time to begin laser hair removal!
Spring (March – May): continue your sessions
- Be cautious with early sun exposure
- High SPF (50+) is essential
- Continue treatments if skin remains unburnt and untanned
Summer (June – September): limited or paused treatments
- Higher risk of side effects
- Tanning increases the risk of side effects, especially pigmentation disorders
- Treat only sun-protected areas (e.g. underarms, bikini line)
Our advice: Pause your treatment or focus on less exposed areas.
