IDAS™ laser treatment

Precise laser treatment for vascular changes

Enlarged veins, increased pigmentation, and other vascular changes can result in unwanted changes to the overall aesthetic appearance of the face and body. Various laser treatments can address these concerns, but conventional methods are often painful and imprecise. There is now a state-of-the-art solution that far outshines these outdated approaches.

IDAS™ laser treatment effectively, quickly, and safely removes vascular and skin lesions. This method is ideal for anyone seeking a virtually pain-free solution for their skin concerns. Both women and men can achieve a clearer, more even complexion with ease.

Method

How does IDAS™ work?

A laser is a beam of highly concentrated light at a single wavelength. During IDAS™ treatment, the laser’s signature green light precisely penetrates the uppermost layers of the skin. Energy pulses target the red blood cells (erythrocytes) within the affected vessels without disrupting their function. This controlled energy application briefly heats the blood vessel, sealing it permanently from the inside out and eliminating unwanted pigmentation. As long as the energy level is set correctly, the skin’s surface remains undamaged, ensuring optimal protection for the surrounding tissue.

The combination of high power and ultra-short pulses allows for effective treatment of vascular and skin concerns while preserving the surrounding tissue. Because pulse duration and spot sizes are adjustable, this method is suitable for virtually all skin types and a wide range of vascular and pigmentation issues.

What happens during IDAS™ treatment?

Anaesthesia is usually not required for IDAS™ laser treatment. To protect the eyes, you will wear special glasses throughout the session. The bright green laser light precisely targets the affected area of the face or body, addressing skin or vascular concerns with accuracy. Some areas may require cooling during treatment for added comfort. The entire procedure takes approximately 10–30 minutes.

At the end of the session, we apply a cold pack for five to ten minutes if needed, followed by a skin-soothing cream. After treatment, the skin may feel similar to a mild sunburn.

In the first few hours, redness may appear on the treated areas. Mild swelling, fine crusts, or small blisters may also develop over the next few days, but these heal naturally within a short time. With the help of concealing creams that protect and camouflage the skin, you can typically resume your usual activities the following day.

Patient satisfaction

How satisfied are our patients with the results?

My patients appreciate the IDAS™ laser because it offers a virtually painless alternative to conventional methods. This treatment is fast, effective and gentle, making it an ideal choice for enhancing skin appearance. During the procedure, you may feel very fine “pricks” from the laser, but this sensation is generally not perceived as painful. Another key advantage is the wide range of skin and vascular issues that can be effectively treated with IDAS™.

Innovation

What exactly is IDAS™?

IDAS™ is a type of KTP laser, named after potassium titanyl phosphate – an ionic compound of potassium, titanium oxide, and phosphate. Often used in laser devices as crystals, this material converts light into green light with a shorter wavelength, making it highly effective for treating specific pigmentation issues and other skin issues.

The IDAS™ laser operates at a wavelength of 532 nm with 8 watts of power – making it one of the most powerful laser systems on the market.

Advantages

What are the advantages of the IDAS™ laser compared to other methods?

Treatment with the IDAS™ laser targets and eliminates unwanted blood vessels from the inside out. The high-energy green light laser effectively enhances the appearance of the skin without the need for surgery.

  • Precise and safe

Skin and vascular changes can be precisely eliminated with IDAS™. The treatment is gentle on the surrounding healthy skin.

  • Virtually painless

Laser treatment is usually carried out under topical or injection local anaesthesia and is virtually painless. During the session, it feels like very fine pricks. After the treatment, you may have a sensation similar to a mild sunburn on your skin.

  • Fast

The treatment is takes only 10 to 30 minutes and has a short healing time. In addition, only one session is usually required. In some cases, a few more sessions are required. For small veins, for example, one to three treatments are required.

  • Long-lasting

Most patients only need a single session of IDAS™ laser treatment. Very pronounced skin issues may require several sessions, but this is unusual. The results are always effective and long-lasting.

  • Tailored to your needs

The treatment parameters can be adjusted according to the skin changes to be treated.

Risks

What are the risks and side effects?

After treatment, there may be some redness and perhaps some mild swelling, depending on the area treated. Extensive laser treatment on the face can cause significant swelling around the eyes, but we can treat this quickly with the appropriate medication. Fine crusts or blisters may also form, but they heal within seven to ten days. Do not scratch them off; they will fall off naturally. Scratching the treated area can lead to hyperpigmentation or scarring.

My advice

As a doctor, I highly recommend IDAS™ laser treatment to patients who want a practically painless solution for unwanted vascular changes on the skin. The method is safe, fast and effective, making it an excellent choice for our patients.

I advise avoiding direct sunlight for around four weeks after treatment. It is also best to avoid excessive heat on the treated areas, such as in saunas or thermal baths. Proper care with suitable skincare products will protect the treated areas and prevent abrasions.

With IDAS™, I can provide my patients with a proven method for skin beautification and help them achieve their desired appearance.

If you have any questions or would like one-to-one advice, I would be happy to discuss this with you personally.

FAQs – Frequently asked questions

Compared to conventional laser methods, the treatment is virtually painless. If you prefer, we can administer a topical or locally injected anaesthetic before treatment to ensure complete pain relief.

As a rule, a single session is sufficient. Depending on the indication, further sessions may be required. For example, one to three treatments may be required to treat a large number of veins.

As a rule, skin changes and vascular changes only need to be removed once. The result is usually permanent, but new skin changes can always occur.

You should apply appropriate creams to irritated skin. Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, and high water temperatures when showering or bathing for about four weeks.

Complete healing usually takes about 14 days. With concealing creams to protect and hide the irritated skin, you can typically resume your daily activities the day after treatment.
