Filler with hyaluron

Turn back the time!

Everyone loses facial volume as they get older. Muscle mass shrinks, bone structure changes, the face sinks, the skin becomes wrinkled, you look older, more tired or sadder – no matter how good your skin care, genes or lifestyle are.

This natural process can be stopped with fillers. Hyaluronic fillers are cosmetic treatments that are primarily used to improve or restore the volume and contours of the face and smooth out wrinkles.

These fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, collagen or calcium hydroxyapatite, naturally occurring substances in the body that give the skin elasticity and volume.

How does a facial treatment with hyaluronic filler work?

A facial treatment with hyaluronic fillers is a cosmetic procedure that aims to improve the appearance of the skin by injecting hyaluronic fillers into the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body that helps to bind moisture and keep the skin looking plump and youthful.

A classic treatment procedure in our practice in Rapperswil-Jona on Lake Zurich is as follows:

  • Consulting:

The first step is a personal consultation with Dr. Susanne Kristof, a specialist in dermatology. The skin, face shape and muscle structure of the facial areas are analyzed. Your wishes and expectations will be discussed and an individual treatment plan will then be drawn up to achieve optimum results.

  • Cleaning:

Before the treatment, your face is thoroughly cleansed to remove dirt, oil and make-up. This ensures that the skin is clean and free of impurities, which reduces the risk of infection.

  • Anesthesia:

Depending on the sensitivity of the skin and the personal preferences of the patient, a local anesthetic in the form of a cream or anesthetic can be used before the injection. This depends both on the areas of the face intended for treatment with hyaluronic acid and on the patient’s personal perception of pain.

  • Injection:

The hyaluronic filler is injected into the areas previously specified in the treatment plan. Experienced practitioners know exactly which quantities need to be placed in which areas so that the filler gives the face the desired volume. Lines and wrinkles in the skin around the nose, chin and lips are also smoothed out and certain areas of the face such as the jawline, cheeks and facial areas on the side of the forehead are sculpted using additional external massage movements. With this body’s own volume build-up, frown lines, forehead wrinkles and nasolabial folds can be flattened or disappear completely. First and foremost, hyaluronic acid injections are about volume substitution, giving the face back what it has lost. The amount of filler used depends on the individual needs and the desired result.

  • Final cleaning:

After the hyaluronic acid injection, the treated facial areas are gently massaged to distribute the filler evenly and correct any unevenness. A cooling face mask supports the recovery process after the facial treatment.

We attach great importance to the well-being of our patients, even if nothing stands in the way of normal everyday life after a hyaluronic acid treatment. As always, when it comes to the skin, good sun protection is really important, especially in the sunny months. The usual cosmetic products, care products, creams and make-up can be used again immediately after a hyaluronic acid treatment.

Volume back !

Which parts of the face become fuller and more beautiful with filler?

The aim of facial treatment with hyaluronic acid is to replace lost volume in the face. Hyaluronic fillers are often used to plump up nasolabial folds, to lift and enlarge the lips, to contour the cheeks and chin line (jawline) and to treat volume defects in the face. Small wrinkles can also be filled in and the skin tightened.

A non-surgical, non-invasive treatment method is used to tighten the skin, perform moderate facial augmentation and perform volume substitution with a proven substance as part of an aesthetic treatment.

If there is a desire to look more feminine – or more masculine, depending on the patient – a stunning effect can be achieved by injecting hyaluronic acid into the face with just a few products. If the doctor knows which parts of the face need to be shaped and how in order to fulfill the gender-specific criteria for the observer, this non-surgical method can be used to achieve great success in terms of patient satisfaction and well-being.

Biostimulation with the help of hyaluronic acid treatment varies from person to person, but has been proven in numerous studies: Just like the related calcium hydroxyapatite, hyaluronic acid leads to the body’s own production of collagen after injection, leads to more fibroblasts and more elastin and thus to the stimulation of the body’s own production of volume-driving substances. The fibers responsible for skin tightening rebuild themselves, are produced again by the body and reinforce the long-term effect of a filler treatment.

  • Facial volume: the face becomes fuller and therefore looks younger
  • Facelift: non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment method with immediate effect
  • Nasolabial fold: Depressions in the face are filled and the correct proportions are restored
  • Lip lifting: in combination therapy with the lowest doses of botulinum, the wrinkles around the lips caused by ageing disappear and the lips appear fuller and more elegant, but not "plumped up".
  • Cheek filling: sunken cheeks are filled in and make the face look healthier
  • Facial contouring: with fillers, facial features become more pronounced again, more concise, can appear more feminine or masculine again if desired
  • Jaw line: sagging skin areas on the sides of the chin and jaw are tightened, volume on the chin and overlying areas of the face is replenished
  • Crow's feet: Eye wrinkles are reduced in a combination therapy with botulinum and the skin around the eyes is tightened, wrinkles are reduced, the appearance is refreshed and rejuvenated
  • Forehead wrinkles: deep wrinkles are filled and the appearance becomes more positive, friendly, cheerful and relaxed
  • Smile lines: the positive radiance is supported by the slight reduction in the depth of the wrinkles
  • Lip augmentation: if desired, fillers can be used to increase the volume of the lips and adjust the shape according to the patient's wishes
  • Dark circles: dark circles can be reduced with the targeted use of hyaluronic fillers
  • Earlobes: with hyaluronic fillers, sagging earlobes or earlobes damaged by piercings and jewelry are refilled, making them more visually attractive
  • Volume loss: this can be counteracted in all areas of the face with a natural result

How satisfied are our patients with the results?

Treatment with hyaluronic fillers or calcium hydroxyapatite can work wonders:

A facelift according to the motto “well rested” or in other words: “Like after the vacations!”

The ageing face is given back the volume that it loses over time. My patients want to feel fresher and healthier, they don’t want a change in type, but they want to recognize their younger selves in the mirror. They are very well-groomed, often active in sports, they eat consciously and look after their bodies. But no matter how well they are cared for, they cannot stop the ageing process or compensate for past care mistakes. Fillers provide us with a wonderful aid that makes patients happy and satisfied. And this doesn’t just apply to women, more and more men are coming to our practice for treatment to harmonize their body, face and personal well-being

How long has hyaluronic acid been used as a facial filler?

Hyaluronic acid has been used in facial treatments for many years. The use of hyaluronic fillers in aesthetic medicine began in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Since then, the products of the various manufacturers and the application techniques have continued to evolve.

In recent years, the use of hyaluronic acid fillers has become widespread in aesthetic medicine because they have established themselves as an effective method for treating wrinkles, filling volume and improving the appearance of the skin. The technology behind the production and application of hyaluronic fillers has improved, resulting in a wider range of products with different viscosities, molecular weights and application areas.

The use of hyaluronic fillers in facial treatments is also widespread and is considered one of the safest and most effective non-surgical options for skin improvement and facial volume enhancement.

What are the advantages of hyaluronic fillers compared to other cosmetic treatments for the face?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural and biodegradable product. The minimally invasive, non-surgical application has several advantages:

No surgery is necessary, but local anesthesia with a cream can be used if desired.

We are dealing with minimal downtime: Compared to surgical procedures, hyaluronic fillers offer the advantage of minimal or no downtime. Patients can usually resume their daily activities immediately after treatment.

Good to know: If necessary, the effects of hyaluronic fillers can be dissolved by injecting an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

What are the risks or side effects?

A facial treatment with hyaluronic fillers may require regular top-up treatments to maintain the results. The treatment is minimally invasive, but like all facial treatments, the professional quality of the practitioner must be ensured in order to minimize risks.

Volume build-up in the face using hyaluronic acid and the related calcium hydroxyapatite is non-permanent and biodegradable: unlike permanent fillers (e.g. silicone), hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down by the body over time. The effects usually last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the product used and the area treated.

The results are usually visible immediately after treatment. For some patients, it may take some time for the volume increase to become apparent because swelling must have completely subsided before the final result is visible.

Possible side effects: Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising and slight pain at the injection site. These are usually mild and temporary.

My advice

Patients who want to counteract the natural aging process in the face, the loss of volume and the increased sagging of the skin in order to look fresher, healthier and also younger, I recommend a combination therapy of different treatment methods.

The combination of hyaluronic fillers and botulinum in small and individually adjusted doses as well as their targeted application (full-face treatment) show incredible results.

A precise skin, muscle and volume analysis is standard in our practice before treatment. I advise my patients to be open about their wishes and expectations during the consultation – and to bring sample photos with them if necessary.

FAQs – Frequently asked questions

Hyaluronic acid, often referred to as hyaluronic acid, is a popular component in skin care and can have various positive effects in the facial area:

Moisture binding: Hyaluronic acid is known for its ability to bind water. It can attract and retain up to 1000 times its own weight in water, which leads to improved hydration of the skin.

Reduction of wrinkles and fine lines: With strong moisture retention, hyaluronic acid can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by plumping and smoothing the skin.

Improving skin texture: Regular use of hyaluronic acid can lead to a smoother skin texture. This is particularly useful for dry or mature skin.

Promoting skin healing: Hyaluronic acid can also support skin healing and is often used to treat wounds or skin irritations.

Antioxidant properties: Hyaluronic acid can fight free radicals, which helps protect the skin from environmental damage such as UV radiation.

It is important to note that the effects of hyaluronic acid can vary depending on various factors such as skin type, quality of the hyaluronic acid product and method of application. It is recommended to use skin care products with hyaluronic acid according to the instructions and to consult a dermatologist if you have any concerns.

A cream or care product with hyaluronic acid cannot build up the volume of the face; for this, a filler must be injected, but its components are chemically identical.

The quantity, i.e. the dosage of filler, is also important for lip injections. If you just want fewer wrinkles or more contoured lips, you won’t see any filler afterwards, just more beautiful lips. If you prefer larger, more voluminous lips, you can get them too – with a larger amount of filler in the right places.
