True beauty comes from within.
Or does it?
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Humanity has been grappling with the question of what true beauty is since time immemorial. The answer always changes with the times. In the Middle Ages, plump women were seen as the ideal. Today, the fashion is childlike facial features and athletic figures with feminine curves. What stays the same throughout time is that people always strive to fit society’s beauty standards.
One thing we should never forget in the face of all this social pressure is that beauty standards are highly susceptible to influence. Social media is rife with fake or misleading representations of beauty and there have also been studies that show that it is easy to influence people’s beauty standards. For example, two studies by psychologist Viren Swami demonstrated that beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder, but also in their stomach! In these studies conducted in 2006 and 2012, hungry men and stressed men rated various female figures. The result: both the hungry and stressed men preferred more full-figured women.
In the end, there’s just one beholder who should matter when it comes to your beauty: you. When you feel beautiful, both inside and out, this shines through for others to see. But if there are parts of you that you are less confident about, we’d be happy to help you find your true beauty.
